Did you ever feel so alone and that no one understands what it is like to have a child with a disability?
Have you ever experienced the fear of taking your child to outings such as parties, playgrounds, play dates, movies etc.?
Do you ever wish that you had a place to go that is a safe and fun environment for your child and would also give you the support and knowledge you need to help your child succeed?
If you answered YES to any of these questions then Longwood Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) is the place for you! (Or as we like to call it Self Empowered Parents Taking Action.)
We offer support to all families with special needs children regardless of their age or disability. We provide informative speakers that can help you better advocate for your special needs child as well as offer activities in a fun and safe environment. We will give you the tools and knowledge to learn how to work well with the staff who will be educating your children. We can help because we too are parents and teachers of children with a disability! No one understands your frustrations and concerns better than we do.
We welcome all parents, grandparents, step-parents, aunts, uncles, teachers, administrators, students and friends both in and out of Longwood School District both in and out of Longwood School District.
In the 2020-2021 school year, we are planning many opportunities for social interaction and teachable moments for our kids. Our activity nights will be filled with fun and learning in a completely judge free environment.
Join our Family is easy. Fill out our membership form (see below to download our form) and send it in to your school to the “Attn: of Longwood SEPTA”. If you do not have a child in one of Longwood Schools, you can either mail us the form or bring it with you to any meeting or activity night.
We welcome you with open arms. Together we can make a difference!!!
Sincerely,
Your Longwood SEPTA Board
